(Answers to the exercise)


        1. Do some Japanese men still wear a top knot (ちょんまげ)?
            - No, nobody wears a top knot in Japan nowadays, except for sumo wrestlers
              perhaps.
       2. He's Japanese, so I suppose he must be good at karate.
             - Not everyone in Japan does karate.
        3. Hey, Bob. I hear you're from Liverpool. I bet you must be a good soccer player.
             - Not everyone from Liverpool is a good soccer* player.      
        4. I'm thinking of starting a cricket team here in Ena.
              - What? You're joking. Nobody in Ena knows anything about cricket.
        5. I've heard that English people are very fond of horses.
              - Well, there are certainly a lot of people in England who like horses, but not
                 everyone does.

     *Note
      The  sport that Japanese and Americans call "soccer," is usually called "football"
      in England.
